APWH Physicians and Safety Kits’ Clinical Pharmacist worked together to develop this wound kit that specifically treats Xylazine wounds.
As of 2023, more and more health departments and law enforcement agencies are seeing Xylazine detected in overdose deaths. Xylazine’s chemical structure is detrimental to a person’s blood vessels, leading to issues with healing. As a result, large surface area wounds form.
Ideally, hospitalization is recommended, but often, this population will not seek medical attention. The large surface wounds lead to amputation and are showing up frequently on the streets.
